What pickups did KE3 Kelly's come with before....

Duncan Designed Detonators?

I have Duncan Designed pickups in a KE3 I bought. It looks stock and the pickups look like everyday pickups (no huge "Bolts of Volts" LOL!).

Is it the HB102 set or the HB103 set?

I have a DK-2 with an HB102B and it sounded similar, but maybe a tad crunchier. Going to look at the back of them some day, but they sounded good last night doing some old school Metallica.

You know, Metallica kicked ass back then. Sad to see them go.

i believe it was the HB102/103 set. I have a KE 3 that came with those and i sold them on ebay. terrible pickups

HB102 set = Duncan Jazz neck and JB Bridge
HB103 set = Duncan Distortion Neck and Bridge

Mine from 1996 came with the HB102 JB/Jazz set. For a set of supposedly "cheap" pickups, they sounded pretty decent.

But you upgraded to EMG's, right? EMG85 and ????

sorry about that, i think mine was the HB103 set. they still sucked [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img] replaced them with dimarzios

Right. EMG-85 in the bridge and EMG-89 in the neck splittable with the push-pull volume pot.
