I bought mine when MF was blowing out new Black ones, they only had a few at $599 and they went fast, I got the last one and sent it back. Jack.

I tried an SL-4 and it was pretty ho-hum. Nothing wrong with it (maybe Slayer got a bad apple?), but it didn't impress me like the old Japanese imports did. Then again, I tried a Schecter C-1 with Duncans around the same time, and for all the rave reviews those get, I thought it played like a boat oar.

If you're the type of player who dislikes the pickup positions of an S-S-H guitar, I don't have any suggestions, but if you just want the option of a neck humbucker, an old import Soloist with a stacked humbucker would be great.

          *nods*
What I did on my Model 6, was throw out the middle pickup and put a fake one in its place (empty singlecoil cover). It sits flush with the surface of the guitar and is not in the way.
