Price question for SLSMG

I just visited my local GC (I know, don't flame me) and they have an SLSMG in blue eerie dess swirl on clearance for $649. Of course, since it has been sitting in GC for several months it has the typical slime all over it and the strings are rotting off. Anyway, I plugged it in and was amazed at the sustain vs. my DK2 so I was just curious if this price was that good of a deal.

I've found some plain green SLSMG's on eBay for the same price, so is the eerie dess worth picking it up for? I know in the other models that paint job is a few hundred dollars more.

good point, I just read both ads and they say they are stamped "used" and are seconds. If GC sells this, than it means it has a lifetime warranty? Any other benefits you can think of. I noticed it had some fret wear just from being played in the store too.

It is not a smoking deal by any measure. Although it would be if he guitar was truly brand new. As you said it is a "GC Special". You should treat it as a used guitar and name the price that way. They usually tend to go for around 500 dollars with stock pickups, 600 and more with upgraded pickups in the used market...

Offer them 550 dollars out of the door with case if the guitar is as beaten up as you make it sound like. If not start browsing ebay.

I couldn't sell mine on the boards here in practically mint condition with a case and EMG's for $580. And it is one WITH a serial number, not stamped new. $649 sounds close to right for it being at GC, but I bet they could knock it down close to $550.

yeah....I think if it is a factory second, then it needs to have a case with it for 600 or less
