• Another Rhoads question

Today I saw an import Rhandy Rhoads on a local shop. The guy there told me that it is an rr3 which obviously was not, if there aren't old rr3's with dot inlays

It has dot inlays, and a licensed "Jackson" floyd rose which is not a Jt580 but also not a jt500... The guitars serial number is 605685, I don't know much about serial numbers but this shows that it was made in 94 or 95 I guess? It writes professional on the headstock and the Jackson logo was a silver color or something like that, but it wasn't white like the other imports I've seen...

This is all the information I can give about the guitar. The seller wants 600$ for it, it's the same price the used rr3's are sold here. And also it has a DiMarzio super distortion in the bridge. but the neck pick-up seems to have a problem. I'll offer him 500$ for that guitar. What do you think?

    I will post pictures asap...

Would that be an ´96 model EX from the professional series?

        Re: Another Rhoads question

I don't know what the scene is in Turkey.

However, $500.00 (either US or Cdn).. is way to much for that guitar., IMHO of course.

The mid 90s "Professional" line were not exactly Jacksons finest hour, definately sub-par when compared to 90-93.

Jacksons current import series are better as well.

$300.00 USD at most. (and it better be real clean)

        Just my opinion

          Re: Another Rhoads question

Hard to say for sure what it is without more specific info, but it does sound like a Rhoads EX Professional. $500 is around what they go for here in Europe.

The Rhoads EX was made in Japan. It had a rear routed poplar body (without pickguard), two humbuckers, one volume and a 3-way blade switch. The neck is your standard Jackson maple neck with rosewood fretboard and dot markings. The original trem is the JT580 (not the JT580LP Lo-Pro version).

Yes, chrome. Is there any specific model called the "Rhoads Pro Ex" not "Rhoads EX"?

No. The model was from the Professional series, but there was only one type of Rhoads EX.

It did NOT come with chrome hardware though! It could be an old RX10, before they got the sharkfin inlays. But more likely you're probably looking at a mutt that someone built from parts. It is not worth $500. Haggle it down to at least $300.

Building a guitar from parts is something very rare here So I don't think it's a mutt 500$ seems ok to me, if you think 300$ is good for there. Because here every JAckson is sold 2 times its USA value nearly

                    Re: Another Rhoads question

What type of input jack did it have? Was it the strat type cup on the upper wing or a flat plate on the lower?

Nice question I don't remember it very well but it should be a "flat plate on the lower wing"
