I pulled her apart and checked her out...
Pickup: Jackson on the back also with a sticker labeled Model 2...
The tremolo routing is rough, and in parts lacked any paint. It's obvious that it was done after market. Whether it was done to accomodate the floyd is unclear.
The neck pocket says "Jackson 42254" or "Jackson 42234", the neck says nothing.
WE discussed this one here on the prior auction. When I see body pics we can confirm but this is most likely a Japanese Guitar, and not a Mutt. She was built this way. First, that guitar is worth every penny of what you paid. Less Japanes Strathead Jacksons were made than any other Charvel Strathead (I was told) I would have paid that if it was plain red but the sculls were not my thing....
When you get the back picture let me know. I have been running a thread at CC regarding bodies and identifiying them

OK, here's the question I have... If it's not a USA strathead and is an intentional Jackson strathead, is this some sort of prototype? It certainly isn't listed as a production model. Was there some sort of Japanese custom shop that was kept ultra hush-hush??
It is most certainly rare and believe me, I am glad I got it. She's nice. I know skulls aren't everyone's thing, heck it's not really mine, but I like the way it looks... And what an choice for my first graphic guitar huh?? This is a serious case of love at first sight.
Yes, there was a Jackson custom shop in Japan. A lot of people make jokes about it, but they made a number of stratheads that were not cataloged over there. Small limited edition runs, and I think they've done some one-offs here and there. Just looking at my charvel matching headstock fusion, I've never seen another like it, and it's was never a Japanese cataloged guitar. It doesn't mean that they didn't make a bunch, but I've yet to see another.
Anyways, VERY sweet guitar. I'm jealous, I wanted it, but couldn't afford it. Congrats, it's real, but yes, it's probably not be USA...
The 2nd Amendment: America's Original Homeland Defense.
there are Strat heads that are available in Europe and Asia...I don't believe there ever was a Japan Custom shop...if Skully isn't a USA it is just a guitar built for sale somewhere other than North America.
Skulls are my kind of thing so if you ever want to sell let me know
Very cool. It looks like Skully is a very rare find! Very very cool. It seems that the Snakeskin Jackson strathead is of the same ilk. Two in the same week? What are the odds??
Any more info on this would be greatly appreciated. I'm working on the page to add her to my gallery. (as well as the 3DR firecrackle coming soon from guitarforceone)
I'll keep your interest in mind guys, however I'm becoming more of a skulls kind of person every time I see her.
That kinda reminds me of my Slayer Seasons In The Abyss blood pack cd single. The case is thin, flexi plastic that had red food coloring and little white skulls that would float around in it. Too bad the water dried up a long time ago, but the red residue and skulls are still in there.
I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
Actually there is a Japanese Jackson Custom Shop, or at least they offer Custom Options to a degree.
When I got my NASL from Japan last year, the guy who was handling the deal for me called the shop directly to inquire about a Blood Drip Warrior, and they said if I placed the order that day I could get it in about 6-8 weeks.
While they do offer graphic options like the USA Select series, and I don't know if they just happened to be on the "Warrior Run" at that time, that does lend the idea of custom options from the Japanese shop more credibility.

The original Floyd would be a mod, if that is a Japanese one-off, it would have had a takeucchi LP(sp?) or Schaller, but probably the former...
Most of the Japanese custom or non-catalogued guitars seemed to have a different route that doesn't fit the shape of the trem. My Fusion is like that, and so is the other Japanese Charvel Strathead on ebay...
As far as I can guess, the Japanese started doing one-offs and limited production and custom stuff in the early nineties, from somewhere around 91- early 92 to present.
