  • Identifying a kelly

I'm trying to identify my friends Kelly, he thinks it might be a ke3,but i don't think so. We both ordered ours at the same time from musicans friend, the JK-20s, Indian POS's. His is a lot different from mine though. My fretboard is very lightly died and possibly of a different wood, while his is much darker. Furthermore my neck seems to be horribly warped while his is perfectly straight. I'm fairly certain that mine is in fact the JK-20, but we think his might be a different model, if anyone can help it'd be appreciated.

The serial number on his is: 00042602
I think my serial starts with a few 0's as well, but i don't have my guitar on hand

Oh yeah, i just purchased a practically new ke2 for $1000 with EMG pups, any have an opinion if i got a decent deal or not?

    Sorry to have rambeled,
    thanks,
    Nick

With that serial number it is probably Indian, maybe a kx10d or something. Their quality varied so much it could just be a better jk-20 too.

As I understand it the KE-3 didn't have a neckplate, just 4 bolts with washers in the back. The KX10D had satin chrome hardware at one point, then I think it went to black, then shiny chrome (or something like that).

It has a black neckplate with just a serial number on it. The Bar for his floyd replica (?) is different from mine as well, the part that screws into the bridge is in some sort of housing so the bar can spin around very freely, while mine just screws straight iin

How about some pics of both to solve this incredible mystery?

I can't get any pics, but my friends guitar does have an ebony unbound neck

the body is also made out of a considerbly lighter wood than mine is, and has all black hardware
