• Photoshop request: KVX10/DXMG

Hey guys,
I'm thinking about my next project - I always wanted a reverse head King V but don't have big bucks to get a Custom Shop. So the "Dr. Newcenstein" creation I was thinking would be a KVX10 body with a DXMG neck. (I know the K is string through and the D has a Floyd). Boom, I'd have a nice bound neck & reverse HS 24 fret King V!
We haven't had any photoshop threads recently, so how about it, you talented people?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">hey Ron I don't think it would work , I tryed a kvx10d in colbalt blue swirl and it played awesome , but the neck is pitched and I couldn't figure out if it was a shim or if they acually made it that way , if so you'd have a hell of a time trying to find a neck that would fit ...........but then again I geuss you could shim it or router it or something , the best bet would be if they acually routered it that way to begin with but that I can't tell with out poping the neck off , if so I'd get a 24fret reverse with binding and priahna inlays those seem to pop up on ebay every now and then , it would look killer , and make sure you get a kvx10d in a swirl finish I was totally impressed with those nice work for sure [except the purple on the eds that looked kinda gay and flamey] , or a blk one and pinstripe it yourself [green] ..... **** now I wish I had some cash //Steve

Naw I want a black one....even though Newc says it will disappear on stage!
Hey, ANY guitar disappears when I play it!

And, when I discussed this before, I was told the DXMG neck WOULD fit on the KVX.

I don't think it will work, Ron. Most TOM'd guitars I've seen and played did have an angled neck. I honestly never paid much attention to the KVX10s I've tried though. Were there any 24-fret/reverse headstock/TOM models? I was thinking of the old DR6, but I bet that was only 22 frets.

You'd have to either sand the neck pocket down or shim the front of the neck - if you shim, you can still use the same neck bolts, but if you sand, remember the neck bolts have to be shortened (unless the KV neck heel is thicker than the DX neck heel, in which case it might balance out).

I thought I did this pic once before, but I guess I didn't post it

Re: Photoshop request: KVX10/DXMG

The ToM that Jackson uses requires a 2-4 degree angle to the neck to keep the action low. The bridge sits up high enough that if the neck didn't have this angle, the action would be excessively high and adjusting the bridge down far enough to make it work would also decrease the angle the strings take over the bridge sufficiently enough to completely f**k up any chance of having good sustain. I can't recall if the angle is routed into the neck or body. If it's a neck thing, a properly constructed shim will give you the correct angle with no loss of tone, sustain, or other wossname.

Thanks Newc, and yes that does look familiar! I probably asked you for this in an earlier thread, then forgot.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">the heel is the same thickness , but yeah your gonna have to shim it Ron , also Ron green pinstripe the sides [it wouldn't cost that much a auto detailer could do it for ya cheaper than gmw and pinstripe is pinstripe right , sh-it you could even do it yourself] that would look cool man and you'd see your axe from stage just fine //Steve

acually you can call it a KVXMG with Duncan Designed pick ups , so acually it's a " KVXDD103DXMG-N " put that into your inventory //Steve
