Re: What trem did the 5FX have?
Shouldn't this be in the Import Charvel section?
naughty-naughty.
I assume you are talking about the Model5fx.
It came with a JT6 Floyd trem
All the Model series were outfitted with the JT6 from 87-on, before that the Kahler trem was used.
I think the Model 5 FX was introduced in 87. But I could be wrong.

Re: What trem did the 5FX have?
Yep, JT6. The 5FX originally was a 5A. I don't remember the whole story, but some got sent back and had the single coil added to the neck to make it a 5FX, some with tone controls, some without.I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.

Re: What trem did the 5FX have?
The story I HEARD {from Mike Fratus, when HE was still at IMC - I THINK} was that they had produced the one hum 5As as a result of EVH playing one hum - one volume control guitars, and they WEREN'T EXACTLY setting the WORLD on FIRE with sales of the 5A, so they were called stateside, and ACTUALLY got that slanted single rout done at the SERVICE or REPAIR facility at IMC in Ft. Worth {and NOT at the Corona facility - as A LOT of folks believe} to become 5FXs...
THINK about it, though...HOW MANY 5As were made in the FIRST PLACE ??...Something like 700 ???...WHAT if 3 or 400 were converted from 5As to 5FXs ??...THAT HAD to chomp up a LOT of the 5As, which would make the original 5As a LOT MORE SCARCE...
{I dunno - I've owned THREE 5As - PERSONALLY}
