Soloist Pro XL ? Any good ?

Yes, the XLs are good guitars. That is one of the top Japanese models of that time period, and better than the current than the recent SL3/SL4 imports. The trem is solid, and I see that the stock pickups have been replaced with EMGs, so if it has been well cared for, it could for anywhere from low $300s to high $500s. I paid $450 for an older Soloist Pro, and liked it enough to justify a pickup upgrade and GMW refinish. It has been through many studio sessions and gigs since then.

Yeah, they are just 1 small step below a PRO. XLs have rosewood boards.

Rough guess: I would say $450. The EMGs might kick it a notch higher, though. Nice guitar and looks to be in good shape.

These were pretty much a Model 6/650XL with a Jackson profile instead of the Charvel profile.

What is the difference in profiles (i.e. is one thicker than the other?)

I have a Charvel Fusion Deluxe 100% stock (rosewood/dots), and an early Jackson Fusion Professional neck (ebony), and it's hard to tell the difference, but I think the Jackson neck is thinner.

Another difference between the the Soloist XL and the 650xl is that the Soloist XL has a recessed trem and non-angled neck. That's really the only important difference.

Hey Dave,

I see it this way, I have 3 guitars up on Ebay right now, so buying one isn't a crime. Especially one that feels great like this one ! I only played it for 10 minutes or so but I can feel how nice it's gonna be. All she needs is a fresh set of strings and string height and trem adjustment, then I'll post some pics !! Thanks for the input guys.

sweet, I have the EXACT same guitar, freaking MONSTEROUS tone! I also have EMG's in mine (except middle) and disconnected the tone pot...even survived submersion in the flood of TS Allison in '01...I'll post pics soon...
