<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">My theories:

Theory #1: The pics are just mockups.

Theory #2: The pics are of actual guitars, which are JS30 prototypes. Those 2 are in trans colors because those are the colors that Guitar Center likes to order.

So wait a minute... are they making the JS30 a string-thru now too?

Is alder any good? What is alder, is there an alder tree? lol I prefer mahogany, but that would jack-up the price of these guitars, I'm sure.

Alder is a great wood, usually medium weight and a very rounded tone, I like it very much. My Jackson SL2H and Hamer Diablo both have alder and they weigh medium and have very nice tones. That being said, I do love an all mahogany guitar for that serious down low palm muting chunk Jack.

Yeah, that's what my Ibaney guitar is made of. Mahogany and it sounds really sweet. I'm sure Alder is fine considering the USA made Fenders are made of that type of wood -- and the soloist you have. It can't be bad. Just as long as it's not poplar. yeck.
