  • JRS2 question

Okay, so Ive had this JRS2 for a while now but I always thopught it might be a mutt because it didnt have the natural finish headstock. It has a black finished reverse headstock that says Jackson Professional. But I wondered what other professional series guitars came with a reverse headstock, no locking nut, 22 fret dot inlay neck? Maybe some reverse stringthrough rhoads? or one of those tele clones? I had listed it on ebay before and got no takers so I figured that maybe people figured it was a mutt. so, today I took it apart and this is what I find.

And the neck pocket is stamped very faintly the same-JRS2, 12 4. And what is the red stamp? 8.11.20, Nov 20, 1998? Neckplate number is 606783. So, what do you guys think? Seems like its original to me. Any thoughts on how this happened? Ever seen this before?

    Re: JRS2 question

Wouldn't be 1998 because they were only made in 1997. It's quite possible that some of the latter JRS-2s went out with the painted face on the headstock just to make production that much more streamlined.

Maybe its a 6 and not an 8. But its factory, right? Not a mutt. Ever seen this before?

Seems to be. I have seen a few with a painted headstock face. It's not the majority and it's not pictured that way in the catalogs, but I believe it to still be all legit.
