Bad Jackson?

My 12 year old son is learning to play the guitar, and right now, he's just using one of my electrics (no biggie). He wants his own for Christmas (BC Rich Warlock cause he thinks the "shape is cool!"), and I'm trying to come up with something that is in the "beginner" price range, but will be relatively easy for him to play.

I was thinking about a lower end Jackson import.

Keeping in mind that this is for a kid to start learning on, is there a model that's just total crap?

If he wants a Warlock, get him a Bronze. If he likes the shape he'll take to playing more than if it's a guitar that he's not GASing for. And they're like 150 bucks or less!

This is really true. I had the same expierences with kids in my neighbourhood, if they have something that they think looks cool/pretty than they will play it more.

so yeah.. get him a warlock.. I wouldn't get one with the widow headstock because of the balance issues and easy breakability of the horns..

IMO bc rich are over priced, very badly spec'd. if a bronze/platinum warlock costs £350, it makes sense to get a jackson wrxt for the same money. my £150 js-1 had better build and sound quality than my £659 nj ironbird. my £600 wrmg has fine balance, whereas every bcr import i've tried has suffered from serious neck dive.
