Let me start by saying this post may/will offend some of you. That is not my intention.

While I'm sure Fender built a plant in India because India is just full of unemployed Luthiers with skills equal to their American counterparts. (Going for Cheap labor and materials) And bigger profits. Is this not the fender way.

But if they built a guitar in Japan/India and it was just as good as a USA made Jackson with all the same quality materials and craftsmanship for half the price then that would be a good deal. Right?

You guys say the MII Jackson are gonna sell for around $260.00. There has to be profit in there for both Fender and their dealers.

So how much do these guitars cost to manufacture $40/50 bucks lets reach high and say a $100

Hell at this rate in a few more years my son will be able to save up a couple allowances and run down to GC and buy a New Jackson.

Just my point of view. You get what you pay for and no more.

GC currently sells the JS30 Dinky for $299. Maybe the new MII JS30s will sell for less, but I kinda doubt it because the MIJ JS30 MSRP (whew!) is $427.99 - exactly the same as the new series. 3

The look on Ron's face describes exactly how I felt when I first tried to play my RRX sitting. =)

It's sad all the bolt-on Rhoadses are suffering from this illness (except the RR3). A 90 degree angled tele plug was the first "accessory" I bought for mine. [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]

The 90 degree angle plug is really useful for just about any guitar, I find.

Shame about the Indian manufacture, though [img]images/icons/frown.gif[/img]

You know, that import Charvel Star I had was made in India, and the body wood shredded like mahogany when I drilled the 3rd hole - I wonder if that was Cedro as well [img]graemlins/scratchhead.gif[/img]
I know cedar and mahogany have a similar density and color, so maybe it was cedro [img]graemlins/scratchhead.gif[/img]
If so, these might not be bad guitars - especially if those pickups are the same as the ones they used in the Star [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]
If the body's good, just put a better neck on if ya need to [img]images/icons/grin.gif[/img]

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Jackson contracted Harmony to build the JS series a few years back and I assume that Fender is doing the same. I can't recall what the cost was, but it was way fucking cheap. The $40-$50 is a good estimate.

To give you some idea of the costs involved "from the manufacturer", my buddy and I have been looking into setting up a music store and sourcing the instruments from KHL corporation in Korea. You're looking at US$60 or so for straight strat style instruments. That's delivered to Busan port in Korea. They sometmies have production overruns for around US$40 for the same sort of instruments.

A standard issue rock guitar, H-S-H, Floyd, pointy headstock like this costs US$159.

A double neck like this one costs US$289.

That's on ad-hoc orders of twelve guitars, so if you're getting runs of a few thousand I'll bet the prices plummet.
