  • Will an RR3 or RX10 body fit a Warmoth neck??

Both are 22 frets, but I'm not sure about the neck pocket sizes on these. Are they standard strat neck pocket sizes?? I really wanted to make a short-scale Rhoads with a warmoth conversion neck but Warmoth necks aren't compatible with a whole ot of bodies. Anyone try this??

the neck pocket on the rhoads body will be a little too wide for the warmoth neck, but you can shim it if you so desire. other than that, you shouldn't have issue.

How about the reverse of that? A Warmoth Rhoads body with a Jackson neck?

As long as it's a 22 fret neck, it should work fine.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">you'll have to widen the neck pocket to do that, then.

I was going to go 24 fret Jackson neck with the warmoth body. So all I need to do is widen the pocket?

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">That definitely won't work. The only 24 fret necks that a warmoth body will work with are Warmoth's own with the extended fretboard. Otherwise the measurements will be off.

Well guys, I wanted to do a 24 fret neck on a Rhoads body. The RX10's body has the features I want (one vol. knob, no pickguard), but won't a 24 fret Jackson neck hit the neck pickup? I really don't even want a neck pickup, but since i can't use a warmoth body, i don't know what to do.

                  <font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">No, I'm sorry...I was COMPLETELY WRONG in my last post...

Yes, it should work. The extended 24 fret fretboard that Warmoth uses is made so that regular 22 fret guitars can have 24 frets without modifying the neck pocket.

The Rhoads body is a 22 fret body...hence the extended fretboard neck that warmoth makes will work.

I'm sorry...I gave you the complete wrong info...

ranalli, i'm really confused now! lol

So will a Jackson 24 fret neck work on a Warmoth V2 body?

Oh i see how you were responding. I just want a Rhoads shape body with 24 fret neck, it doesn't matter who makes the Rhoads body. I will be using a 24 fret Jackson neck, I just want a Rhoads body (either warmoth or Jackson) that will accomodate this.

Ok, I've decided now, there's this RX10D I want to get. If I swap the neck of the RX10D for a 24 fret Jackson, will the neck pickup be in the way of the 2 extra frets?

Okay, I'm the idiot again...I must be smoking crack today...LOL.

If you have an RX10 body it's made for 22 frets and will only take necks that are made with 22 frets. The Jackson 24 fret neck will not work because that neck needs a longer neck pocket. A Jackson 22 fret neck will work though...of course.

On the other hand, Warmoth makes a 24 fret neck that most likely will work. THis is because it uses that 2 fret extension/overhang instead of altering the neck pocket length...so it's still really a 22 fret neck with just two extra frets sticking out on the end.

So if you want to use the 22 fret RX10 body you'd need to use an extended fretboard (warmoth) if you want 24 frets. The Warmoth V2 bodies are really 22 frets too and will also work with their extended fretboard neck.

Get it now??? I'm completely sorry if I confused you...maybe someone else can chime in and verify this...or tell me to get lost...whichever comes first..LOL.

Aah I get it now. I assumed when I saw Warmoth just had the 2 fret overhang that all manufacturers used that. Thanks for clearing that up. I don't want to use one of their necks, cost some decent money and would still need the finished quality that the Jackson neck would have.

Man I'm not having much luck w/ this 24 fret Rhoads project.

Well if you think you are good with wood you could carve the neck pocket a little longer...that would work. If that is hte case then you could use the Jackson 24 fret neck with the longer neck pocket.

But that really depends on how handy you are. Carve too far and you're screwed I would think.
