• Muhahahahahaha

I've wanted a 7 string for the longest time. However finding a trans-red DR-7T is damn near impossible. So what's the next best thing??

This...

I've got some HUGE plans for this mutha. I'll keep y'all informed.

First thing to get: A case.

Don't forget the corn. It's nutritious, delicious, and ribbed for her pleasure.

I just ordered a case through Easton Guitars. I was a little miffed that this guitar didn't come with one, but oh well..

Very cool Todd, I've also been jonesing for a 7 string as well. Either that or a baritone type.

Congrats!

Very nice! I'm not too familiar with the DR-7's. What are some of the specs?

Re: Muhahahahahaha

Some of the specs are (from the top of my head): Made in Japan not India (almost certain), alder body, duncan design hums from Korea, 22 frets, rosewood board, sharkfin inlays are made of plastic i think, Tune-O-Matic string-through bridge.

Tekky,
The second thing you're gonna want to do is rip out that bridge pup!! The other teacher where I work and I both ripped em out because they're noisy. The neck pup is actually pretty good though. I recomend either the SD Distortion or Invader. They both sound great in these guitars.

Great score I saw that and wondered how high it would go - I might go for one if they stay cheap

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">That's about right... Actually I haven't even played the guitar and I'm planning on modding it to the point that it would make Dr. Newcanstein blush. Some things I'll do myself, and others I'll have to outsource due to space and lack of tools and knowledge.

First thing I'll do is put an Original Floyd Rose - 7 on it. (outsourced) Next would be the pickups. (Duncan Distortions)

Re: Muhahahahahaha

I thought that Floyd Rose didn't make a 7-string trem. Did they start that soon? I know that Carvin used licensed 7-string trems because there were no original Floyd 7's. My personal choice would be to leave the fixed bridge, but that is just because I don't use a trem that often. Amen for the Distortions though, best metal riffing pickup ever. Never heard one in the neck, though. What other mods are you looking at?

Re: Muhahahahahaha

Yes. The OFR7 is relatively new. They came out sometime last year. ESP has been using them. When I found out that they were making them, my decision to finally get a 7 string was solidified.

Actually the only thing that will be original on this guitar will be the body, neck, and neckplate. Everything else is going. I haven't decided about the graphic/paint yet..

I do believe that not long ago (I think on the Zzounds website, maybe) I saw a Jackson Baritone electric guitar for sale; I have never seen nor heard of one before or since...Is there such a guitar made by Jackson, by chance??

The DK27 is the baritone guitar. The neck scale is 27" to accomodate the lower tunings.
