Re: King V Pro Cherryburst

That silver KV is a 1989 custom shop. Sold it locally some time ago.
For me the most annoying thing about KV Pros is the shorter headstock and large logo. Other than that they are just as cool as US made KV1s.
Actually I only have two KVs at the moment. Custom Shop replica of Mustaine's "number one" and a 1985 Custom King V.

I never noticed the headstock difference before. Now that you have, though, it's pretty obvious in the other picture you posted.

I have to say i personally prefer the japanese headstock line, but I own three king v pro mustaine, and only the black one has got the headstock as said in the japanese way.
we can se the corner at the left is a little more than 90°, and in the other headstock shape, this corner is equal or a little less than 90°.

about finishes: I noticed that even silver sparkle is not matching the silv.sp. shown in the catalog above. had they a bad camera or wath?

Re: King V Pro Cherryburst

I've seen several different versions of silver sparkle on custom shops also. On KV Pros the laquer seems to change over time to give it a "greenish" look.

As with any picture be it catalog or magazine it's always subject to editing. They want it to have the best appearance possible and also to match the overall layout.

The body shape is also different on KV Pros mainly where the wings meet the neck. In lack of a better word it's more "arrow".

yes, and this is the feature i appreciate over all. the look is sharper, continued line. i had a kv2 on 2004 and was usatisfied about its wings connection to the neck as you said, and about the logo on the headstock, written as if they were in a hurry.. but this logo is the new standard,by 1996.

here we can see dave mustaine played a jackson king v pro mustaine, made in japan. i post this pic as i heard in the past some guru saying that he never played any import king v. this should clear all doubt.

Live in Nummirock! I was there and what a great show it was. Perhaps the best I've seen:

I think the one that wasn't modded to FR got black HW and LSR tuners later on. At first I thought it was US made but the body shape looks like a KV Pro and the maple top looks like a laminate.
