LOVE my DXMG. Popped a EMG 81/60 in it (in hindsight, i shoulda did a 85/60), then had Daneen paint it. www.customairbrush.com, and look for the spacey dxmg, or i'll post pics when alcohol wears off.....

She did a great job on that. Did she remove the clear and then reapply after paining, or is that on top of the clear? I always wondered how air-brushers paint on already-painted guitars. Oh, and are her prices reasonable? I didn't see a price-list on her site.

For the record guys, EVERY guitar should have a reverse headstock. Fuck you all!

+1 on that opinion. reverse headstocks also make better use as weapons..

Why so hip on reverse headstocks? I don't like them visually and more importantly (and often overlooked) I don't like what happens from a physics standpoint. It doesn't have as much effect on a locking nut guitar, but extra string length beyond the nut or bridge DOES affect play, sound, etc.

Is it a longer string length on a reverse headstock? Ive never really thought about it much.

Re: DXMG - lots o\' pics

strings always have enough excess prior to fitting and have the excess chopped off at the tuners, irrespective of the headstock. its not always possible to compare two identical guitars with different headstocks (not in the uk where no retailer seems to have a decent selection of guitars - useless bastards). apart from comparing a dk2 with a dx10d only at the bridge pickup, i can't think of any others that would constitute a fair comparison for sound quality.

Im not quite too sure on her process, but im PRETTY sure she sanded off the top clearcoat, did the airbrushing, then reapplied the clear.

Her prices were really fair. I checked with 4 or 5 places that had 4 or 5 ways of doing it, and hers was the cheapest, and still what I wanted. (2 other places suggested printing out the jpg as a high resolution picture, then applying it onto the guitar and clearcoating. no thanks.)

The G & D strings won't be affected much because whether a guitar has a normal or reversed headstock the string length behind the nut is about the same. The most affected will be the high E and the low E. With a normal headstock, the low E has a short string length behind the nut. This will generally make it feel a little stiffer. With a reverse headstock, the low E has a long string length behind the nut. This will make the low E floppier as compared to a normal headstock guitar. The same phenomenon will also occur with the high E and (to a lesser extent) the A & B strings. Bending is affected as well. For example, on a normal headstock, to bend the high E to a given pitch requires more distance than with a reverse headstock....but it requires less pressure. The opposite occurs with a reverse headstock. Due to the shorter string length behind the nut, you will be able to bend to a given pitch with less distance...but you'll have to apply more pressure.

For my playing preferences a normal headstock guitar works much better!
