• RR-5 pickups

Bought myself RR-5 trans. red today (a used one). There´s one thing that I can´t figure it out: both PUs are black not zebra. The seller said it was like that when he bought it a year ago. Any info you can give about the PUs being black?

    Re: RR-5 pickups

The pickups on the RR5 are supposed to be two black JBs. They were never zebra.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">I believe they are supposed to be zebra. My guitar looks identical to this one except for the PUs: http://www.guitarasylum.com/productp...son/rr5_tr.htm

I can try to get a photo someday, but it won´t happen until couple of weeks.

Hmmm, that looks like a special edition that Guitar Asylum is doing. Stock RR5s look like this:

This is a bit strange now. Check out the PUs in here also: http://www.regentguitars.co.uk/acata...hoads_835.html but here it´s with black PUs: http://store6.yimg.com/I/guitarshopnet_1776_4538285

I wonder which one is the "correct one" and why is there two different PU color variations in the first place?

Looks like the Regent site took the pics and descriptions from Guitar Asylum.

                  Re: RR-5 pickups

I pulled the pickups out of my RR5 a while back. Cort is right, 2 black TB-4s. Whether or not they were actually TB-4s is a bit of a mystery. A fixed-bridge guitar wouldn't need the trem spacing of the TB-4,but that's what the letter code on them indicated.

I emailed McD about it, and he said there shouldn't have been twin TB-4s in it.

Anyway, I left the bridge pickup stock and put a duncan Jazz in the neck. Sweet.

Disregard my last post; my memory failed me. It's actually a pair of JBs.

Please read this post I started regarding RR5 pickups. A picture is included farther down in the thread.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">That's what I said, two JBs. TB4 is the trembucker version, SH4 is the regular spaced version. According to the catalog, they're both TB4s.

<font size="2" face="Verdana, Helvetica, sans-serif">Strange indeed. I guess some are a special version like Ron said, or maybe they're just doing it zebra in certain colors now? Anyway, it's not a big deal, they'll sound the same, and they're both cool looking either way.
