• SLSMG Soloists

Not really sure if this should be here of USA Made Jacksons but hey we go.

So anyway I'm playing one of the SLSMG Soloists in my Local guitar shop the other day and I really wanted it with a Floyd Rose and I was wondering would it be cheaper to have one installed or just to buy the Dk1. Only I really liked the satin finish and feel of the neck on that one. (Also The Ebony fret board means alot of others are off my list).

Either that or anyone know of any other 24 fret, Ebony, Floyd rose guitars apart from Chavels (or to a lesser extent Burns Brian may sig.) Mybidget could go up to about 1000 Pounds sterling, Or hopefully less.

Thanks for any and all help

Hmm...the DK1 is a very different beast from the SLSMG - the SLSMG is a neck-thru while the DK1 is bolt-on for one thing. I'd have to say the SL2H-MAH comes the closest if you're looking for something similar with a Floyd.

Floyd installs tend to cost a lot though, and the question is whether the thin body of the SLSMG is thick enough to house one (I don't know since I haven't seen one up close).

That's about all I can say on the matter, but I'm sure someone else will be along shortly and give you more detailed opinions.

No way a floyd is going in a SLSMG. I can't even find a replacement 3-way switch short enough for it

Yeah, it is pretty cramped in there. I meneged to get a puch-pull pot in there but it JUST fits and I had to remove the star washer on the pot or else the back of the pot hits the control cover. You are definitely not going to get a trem in there but hey, that's part of what's cool about these guitars .

The SL3 isn't mahogany with an ebony board, like the SLSMG...
