• good price for a rhoads student?

just tell me when you get sick of me asking questions on and on...

well, I found a rhoads student that looks kind of interessting for me.
good shape, exept of a lil ding on the back of the headstock.
what would you pay for one of these?
or even better; what would you pay if you were european?

and which trems where used in these days?
(sorry, but don't have a year ready)

just curious...

anyone experienced with these?
will they still work ok today? what does the LP stand for?
and how do they compare to other trems?

and what da hell is a rhoads standart?
is that what I'm talking about?

what's the difference between standart and student?

the more I browse the net, the more I get confused...
I've seen pics called "student" with sharkfins, as well as with dots, and then standarts...

now help me guys, it's almoust 5 am and I can't sleep with all that stuff in mind...

I thought a Standard was a Professional model and a Student was a USA model.
The LP on the trem stands for low profile, meaning it's got the string lock screws directly behind the saddles instead of the longer locking pins underneath like an Original Floyd.

I have a Rhoads Student. It's an '84 neck-through. Back in the San Dimas days, you could get Jacksons in basically 2 trim levels: Custom or Student.

Custom: Ebony fretboard, binding, MOP sharkfins
Student: Rosewood fretboard, no binding, dots

Standard (STD) is Japanese-made, Student is USA. Both have rosewood, dots, no binding. Students sometimes had graphics - Standards never did.
The Standard was available for a very short time as a neckthrough, but went to bolt-on inthe early-mid 90s.
The Rhoads Standards go for about $300-$400 depending on condition, and the Students can go from $400 to $700 depending on graphic, condition, and what bridge it has.

thank you guys!!!
I was really confused this morning...
and how would you compare it to the rhoads pro for example?
playability whise...
I know it's got no sharkfins etc, I just wanna know if it's a good player for the price.

anyone tried one?

Re: good price for a rhoads student?

The STDs and XLs came out as the Second Wave of Professional models (after they were busted for outselling the USAs), but they're not too bad - slightly better than today's Pro models from what I understand.
A neckthrough Standard should be about as good as a neckthrough XL, just without the extra cosmetics.

Nope! I'm looking at mine right now. Apparently the only XL neck-through was the Soloist XL.
