Opinions on Crimson Swirl finished imports?

I got looking at the RR3 in crimson swirl at MF. I looked up some more pics with Google and the pictures look horrible. It doesn't really swirl out, it looks like a big red mess (Google pics). Is this what they all look like?

They actually look nice but they need a hardware change to black to look awesome. Just my .02.

I think crimson swirl is one of the best finish options on the import jackson's.

Here is one that I like very much, I don't know whether it seems like a mess or not but I like it [img]/images/graemlins/smile.gif[/img]

One of the guitar players in my band has a Kelly in that color, looks really sharp.

Not at all what the pic looks like in the MF catalogue! This finish looks more like crimson fuck-up, or the Load album.

Hell, I'd still take that axe though.

Maybe you'd have bought that guitar if the finish name was crimson fuck-up instead of crimson swirl?? [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

I don't know much about how the import graphic finishes are made but there is always a chance that the graphic will be a bit different than what you thought and you'll like the graphic on your guitar more or less than you expected.

I'd say go for it. When buying a guitar with a graphic finish, you should not think about the picture you see but instead you should think the guitar in your hands ,or while you're playing it on the stage [img]/images/graemlins/headbang.gif[/img]

I'm in the same situation...

I also want to get an RR3 in the CS finish, but from all the pictures I've seen, they seem to be VERY inconsistent. The Eerie Dess Swirl color, on the other hand, seem come out better way more often, but even those come out weird sometimes - like with pink/light purple colored fins.

Ah, this sucks, the only other finish I like is Lightning Sky, but that only comes on the RR1. :[

i'm thinking of either a crimson swirl or a trans red. for my next dk2. can't decided between those two. however NextinLine makes a strong arguement for crimson [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

i don't see the point in having any graphic finish if it's going to be obscured by a control/scratch plate. i'd go for the ke3 or dk2.

I actually got thinking about it after I posted it. It does look cool, just not quite what I'd expected. The pictures look like somebody's arm was cut of by a radial saw over a black guitar. This looks like a pool of lava. Still cool. You're probably right, if it were called Crimson fuck-up I'd buy it.

I actually didn't have any plans on buying it any time soon, it just caught my eye and was curious. It is cool, perhaps I'll look more seriously at one in the future.

I love crimson swirl, I think its sweet. If you want actual radial swirl do it yourself! I prefer the chaos personally like it HAS had blood splattered all over it, lovely metallic crimson blood!

I have the same DK2 that NextInLine has. I love the Crimson Swirl graphic on it. I also have to agree with Charvels4me that a black hardware change makes a huge difference in how awewome the guitar looks. I'm thinking that I may want to do that.

I just came home from GC and I saw that too. The finish looks almost like a hologram with its glossy clear coat and the metallic red.

Now only if MF or a store will carry the RR3 in that color...
