• DXMG

hey there I plan to get one of these as saving for a good guitar like a DK-1 will take wayyy too long I am impatient.

Anyway after hearing soem fellow jcf comments taht this is as gooda s a USA jackosn when it ahs been upgraded? I.E. Schaller or an OFR, and EMG Duncan or Dimarzio pickups?

Thanks in advance.

Cheers, Owain

Re: DXMG

I have a dxmg with some dimarzio pickups (tone zone & humbucker from hell) and an original floyd. It does sound better than it did stock with the new pickups. I've never played a dk1 so I can't tell you how it would compare, but I have played a soloist and the dxmg feels cheap next to the soloist. However, just because it doesn't feel as good as a soloist doesn't mean it's a bad guitar and that you shouldn't get it. With new pickups and an original floyd you'll be in good shape. Re: DXMG

I don't think the DXMG plays cheap next to MY Soloist.

I wouldn't say it plays as well, but the difference is small.

Everybody has different tastes, opinions.

How a guitar is setup is gping to determine how well it plays.

My guitars are setup very, very well. As a result, my imports compare quite nicely to USA models.

I'll leave you with this final thought on the DXMG.

I had to cut down on some gear, I sold my US made DK-1, but KEPT the DXMG.

Re: DXMG

2Loud2old is right in that it is one of, if not thee best import Dinky Jackson offers. I've not had much of a complaint on mine. I actually like the EMGHZ pickups, however I got one of the original India made DXMGs, and it came with a JT500 trem. The trem is the only real complaint I have with my DXMG. The JT580 should not be an issue though. At my local store I have played some Soloists a DK1, & a Model 6. They all played a little different and sounded a little different, but compared to the DXMG I thought there was little difference in quality.

Did we really need yet another DXMG thread?

Why yes, yes we do.

I don't think it's reached the level of redudancy of, oh I dunno.. the lemon oil thread.

However, in deference to Admiral Ron, who if I'm not mistaken.. HAS no DXMG,

I propose we hereby and henceforth, refer to said DXMG as the "Reversed Wonder"

he has those women in his pic so that probably more than compensates?

Anyway thanks for the help guys, very interesting to know about the DK-1 dropping the only thing I prefer is the satandard jackson headstock, although it's growing on me.

Re: DXMG

I bought a used DXMG in gun metal gray not even a week ago and i still am amazed at how good a guitar these are
seriously,i will be putting on a OFR when i get around to it but it is not as a necessity as i thought it would be? the the J580lp is not all that terrible,it is not as good as a OFR BUT for now it keeps the tuning fine.
I have my trems set to just dive.
the neck on the DXMG is GODLIKE for a $300 guitar
it really feels and plays like a USA DK-1, the guy i got it from had the frets dressed for a lower than low action(less than a 16th" at the 24th fret) and it is faster than hell!
i put in a tone zone and a super II in the neck and it sounds monsterous through my modded 5150 stack. i am real satisfied with the guitar in
whole, the only thing i wish is that jackson would have done is used a better looking MOP inlay
