It's relatively the same deal as before. You can still get a Floyd in there, but the routes don't match. It's all cosmetic, but if I make a change to something, I'd prefer that it look like it were still original.
I'll be honest on this... I am disappointed in the "upgraded" tremolos. I was hoping for a Schaller-style tremolo or at the very least, something with the square baseplate. Instead the tremolos are now made by Gotoh or in a style very much like them.

stardard gotoh locking trems are much better than the TRS kind. so if these new jacksons by gotoh are as good as gotoh's own brand I will be very happy. [img]/images/graemlins/smirk.gif[/img]
just curious. i've seen how MOP inlays degrade. they become dull and lose reflectivity. having never owned a guitar with maple board, are black inlays supposed to last longer or do they degrade at the same rate?
