I also wonder about the trem I'm tempted to order one, but would like more info on the trem. In case is not as durable a a Schaller Floyd, would it be hard to replace with an OFR?
The trem is a licensed Floyd, low-profile style, with a hardened steel bridge plate. From my experience, these work great for average to semi-pro use. If you are going to beat the daylights out of it as you gig professionally 3-4 nights a week, then you might decide to eventually replace it at some point with a Floyd Rose Pro (not an OFR).
i wish someone would actually GET a dk2m, post pix of it and give us an opinion of it - sound, feel, build quality. i'd like to see if the trem is better/worse or just a re-badged jt580.
Fuck ebay, fuck paypal

In regards to your tremolo question, the best I can describe it is that it is very similar to if not a Gotoh Licensed Floyd Rose. Gotoh has always had a good relationship with Jackson/Charvel and made quality parts.
I personally was hoping for something that had the squared-off base plate like the Original Floyd Rose or Schaller Floyd, but that's based upon more cosmetic reasons than function or quality. Nevertheless, it is a definite upgrade from the previous JT580LP.
apologies about the bribe joke. i'm just so jealous that even the imports get priority in the usa but it often seems so quick after release. i thought when a release is done, the company already has a shedload of stock waiting to be ordered. i have a crap sense of humour.

Unfortunately that's the logistic deal that JCMI (an American company) worked out with their import suppliers to provide product to their primary market. Be patient, or best yet, be a squeaky wheel to your favorite Jackson dealer wherever you are.
