I think I am going to go with a EMG in my Bond Rhoads. Three of my other guitars have them in them and I like the sound. Now I have to decide which one. Either a 81 or a 85. Which one would you guys go with? I like the 85 in my Gibson V alot. The Explorer and Rhoads Pro have the 81 in them. The Rhoads sounds better to me than does the Explorer. Wood should not effect the sound of a active pickup should it??

if wood didn't affect the sound of active pickups, you could just buy a shit 100$ squier and it would sound the exact same as a RR1 :|

Or even better, a shit $50 plywood Hondo.

I have only heard the 81 and 85. I take it a 60 sucks ass.

A 60 doesn't suck ass. It rules as a neck pup, may be a little too bright as a bridge pup, but you'd have to try it and see if it for yourself.I feel my soul go cold... only the dead are smiling.
