They prolly sprayed the Canadian ones cuz they know you can't play with Lemon Oil there... You know how the government is there about those things... Wouldn't want you to hurt yourself with lemon oil etc.

          Zeeg - no worries!!

If it got sprayed, it wasn't our doing. I gave you the process we use at the Japan factory. Those guys have been building Jackson guitars since 1985 and they take great pride in their craftsmanship. The ebony boards on the Kevin Bond model and the SLSMG are both highly polished. As people play them, their skin oils might cause it to look like it's finished. However, I personally think finished fingerboards are hard to play, so I pay attention to these things.

Worse case scenario, if you like the guitar, but want the fingerboard to not be so shiny, hit it with some 00 or 000 steel wool and problem is solved.

Which L&M location is it at. Maybe I'll crawl out of my igloo, get out the dogsled, and go have a look at it, while I'm picking up real beer.

That doesn't look too bad if it's lacquered. Now THIS is what I call lacquer...

First I also thought that the board is buffed, but if you try to feel the transition from ebony to the inlay you'll notice that there's something wrong. The transition can't be felt, because there's a coat over the board and the inlays.

Just becasue the inlay guy knows what he´s doing and does it well, followed by the same level of quality in the fretboard leveling, that means JCMI is cheating in some way?

Bottom line: If I can feel an inlay above OR below the fretboard surface, the person who put it in and / or the guy doing the leveling fucked up, bad. Just because some other companies produce crap doesn´t mean JCMI has to

Yes, but. Inlay will shift over time, so no matter how well it is put in, it can eventually sink or pop up to the point where you can feel an edge. I can feel 2 of the inlays on my KV1. It's not bad enough that it's a problem, but it's there.
