When "whoever" swapped the mini-toggle for the volume, they might have messed up the wiring for th J1500, or the wiring might have been too short to reach.

How do you like the J200 singles? To me, they seem muddy, but the J1500 cleans them up nicely. I like the stock J50B(C?) without the active stuff on, but I like the singles with the active on. So, if your single seem muddy, try getting that preamp working.

DonP, my first impression of the J200's was that they're pretty overpowered by the bridge pickup. If I pick for example some clean arpeggios with the bridge hum, I have to turn up the volume of my amp when I switch to middle or neck pickups in order to maintain the same volume level. Overall I think they're "ok" but not something to tell your grandchildred about. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

Then again, I've never tried them with working active circuitry so we'll see after I get the JE1500 working. (Now that I have the schematic which was in front of me the whole time for gods sake). [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

The JE1500 thins them out IMO. They sound more strat-like with the pre-amp on.

I finally got around to examining the wiring a bit closer and it sure is a mess. The loose wire is supposed to be the system ground wire, but it's connected and soldered on the board so that if I connect the wire to the ground where it's supposed to be connected, the battery will short circuit. In addition, at least half of the wires are connected wrong, in completely different places. The volume pot has been removed from the board and wired a bit differently now. What a mess. I wonder what kind of moron was working on this thing. [img]/images/graemlins/laugh.gif[/img]

that too bad someone messed it up. the electronics are nice to have. I love the look on someones face when I use the effects after playing it in normal mode, really adds a lot to the sound, you can always wire it conventionally and use the mini toggle as a splitter if the JE1500 is wasted
