DK2 w/scalloped horn

I've noticed some of the more recent (2004-2005) DK2s come with the lower cutaway and some don't. So I started looking at photos, and it appears that those with solid or graphic finishes have the scallop (like mt black DK2) and those with transparent finishes don't.

Am I correct? Does anyone have a newer transparent finish DK2 that HAS the lower horn cutaway? Is it because the flame maple veneer is too thin?

Most flametops don't have a scallop - even USA models. Distracts from the flame and makes it look funny.
