  • Buying a 2005 model slsmg?

I was at guitar center the other day and noticed the slsmg on for 949!!! It still had the EMG HZ pickups on there..The guitar is brand new and looked great and there was no flaws that I visibly see. Anyway, could this still be the 05' model? If it is.. shouldnt it be for a lower price than that and how much could I deal them down for? Thanks!

that's ridiculously cheap. nowadays i'm adamant any guitar i buy must have a case though. british weather stinks and these expensive toys are usually bump magnets for chavs.

Grats on the buy. I'm still in love with my SLSMG a year later. I still cant shake the feeling that I would fare better with some SD's in it instead of the HZ's. Still decent sounding though. Other than that the guitar is simply beautiful. A shredding machine. What do you think about the HZ's anyways?

I love the HZ's..Brings out alot of distortion and very bright for leads. I dont know why alot of people dislike them..perhaps maybe they tried the hz-1-hz3? the hz-4 is what i love..its basically the passive version of the actives..i dunno..i just perfer the passives over them because they sound a bit different..im probably one of the very few i guess that like them over actives? well..just me and alexi laiho?

Hello- I believe what you have are actually the HZ-3's. I replaced the HZ's in my DKMG and they were definately a pair of HZ-3's; they were stamped on the back. The hz4's are supposed to be a passive version of the 81, but the 3's are a little different. Karl
