  • DK2M finally gets here

I know I have been ranting about USPS but I have one more, USPS sucks sucks sucks ass! I paid in full 4/12 with a store 5-6 hours from here, got it today on 4/25. No tracking service, no help on the phone, just plain ass suckage. OK, I'm done, never will I use USPS again. Now the fun part, I'm not a nOOb so I am posting some quick pics unlike some of you teases around here. I ordered cobalt blue and I was worried it would be purple but it is a nice dark blue like I hoped. The neck is quite beefy, feels the same a my SL2HT but the radius looks flatter(I know my SL2HT is supposed to be 12-16 but it looks 12 all the way up). Strings are corroded so I won't review the playability til I do a complete set up. I am not a fan of JB's but it dosn't sound too bad in this guitar. Here are some quick sucky pics for you porn addicts:

Charvel 7308 (TMZ 008), Charvel Pro-mod (yellow), Jackson Soloist Custom (Yellow), Jackson SL2H-V Natural, Gibson LPS DB, Gibson LPS EB, Gibson LPCC C, Charvel Model 2 (scalloped), Jackson DK2M (white), Charvel Journeyman, Fender Classic Player 60's strat, Carvin C66, Musikraft strat mutt, Warmoth Strat mutt, Fender MIM Jazz bass, Epiphone Classical, Takamine parlor. Marshall 2203, Marshall JVM 210H, Splawn Nitro, Fender Supersonic 22, Line 6 AX2 212, Marshall 4X12.

Quick review, guitar set up very easy. I'm down a 1/2 step so I had to redo the set up. Neck is new and stiff but very cool. Nice and fat like my SL2HT, almost LPish. Frets are big, ends are a little sharp but fine. I set the action at 1.5mm at the 12th on both sides, usual buzz but not any worse than my USA. Strings bend across the board no problem, better than my USA. Finish on the back of the neck feels almost bare, very light finish, very cool feel. It has the usual volume right in the way but Jackson likes it that way I guess. I don't like JB's but this sounds good in this guitar (should have used black pickup screws to match the hardware). The trem stays in tune well but feels cheap, fine tuners feel loose and light, arm is hard to keep tight, comes very stiff (which I like) but a spring could be removed for a looser feel. Finish is great, deep dark blue with no noticable flaws. 3 way blade selector works fine but the toggle on my sl2ht seems like a better choice. All in all this is a very cool guitar with a fantstic neck and unique vibe. I'm sure after I've pounded on her for a few weeks it will feel less stiff. Onlinestage gear offers a case and shipping in their price. He has 2 black ones in stock if you got GAS!

          Congrats on a new guitar!

But wait a minute...1,5mm on 12th fret?? That's way too high for me....I have my action seet at 1mm at 12th fret and it's the maximum height I can bare with.

Thanks people, cool guitar. In regards to the action, I don't see how people get 1mm action(top of fret to bottom of e string/12th fret) without buzzing and dead bends. I've been doing setups for 20 years and I've teched for various bands including Iced Earth. I have acheived 1.2 maybe and it worked with a light touch and a very flat neck. I do 1-2 step bends and they would fret out with 1mm action. You know a secret or something? Share it!
