  • JT 500 trem?

is this trem on the PS-4's good enough for some dime and satch whammy stuff?
can it be retrofitted with a schaller or OFR without any mods?
I was thinking of upgrading in the future if the JT 500 is not real good
If it's not a CHARVEL then i dont want to play it,look at it or even fuckin THINK about it!

The JT-500 is not a bad trem, it's just not that great either.
Swap it out with a JT-590 or a Schaller.
A Schaller will drop right in. A Floyd will hit tha back of the recess on a PS-4.

Won't the two bottom corners of the plate on the Schaller hit the edge of the trem routing on the body? Doesn't the JT-590 have the cost/material cutting plate slant, while the Schaller have the full rectangular plate?

You're thinking of the Takeuchi JT-580/LP. Those have the slant.

Plus, I have used a Schaller in a guitar routed for the 580LP. Worked fine, even though the route didn't match the shape of the baseplate 100%.

So is there a high quality trem that will fit the JT-580 plate route perfectly? I've read the sticky in the Tech forum, but didn't find this info.

Not as far as I know. There is a Takeuchi JT580LP with a hardened baseplate and posts (Jackson uses it on the 2006 Pro series). That would almost certainly fit well, but I don't know how well it holds up against an OFR or a Schaller. In fact, I would expect the usual loosening of the trem arm during play, and maybe the ol' "wobbling saddles" as well.

If only Schaller or Floyd Rose offered different baseplates to retrofit in guitars that didn't come stock with OFR or Schallers.... Or like was said a high end 580 type trem. Many guitars use that same angled baseplate like that.. think of all the TRS trems out there on many guitar like Ibanez, Washburn and the like. All those look pretty much dead on to the Takeuchi stuff and hell maybe that is all Takeuchi made stuff for all I know.

Any machinists on the forum? This might be a good part to make.
