  • Help with a ID (big pics)

Hey Im new to the forums and Im buying either a dkmgt or dk2t within a week or so anyways I also found this in a used guitar shop for 350 and for that much I could buy it as a spare guitar. I was wondering if anyone could help ID this guitar because it doesnt seem what they claim it to be (I could be mistaken). Anyways they say its a Jackson Soloist from the mid to late 90s from what an employee told me. I dont think its right since its a bolt on neck. Pretty sure its foreign made India or Japan maybe? Its this thing any good at all? The pickups were noisy for some reason. Anyways on to the Pics...

Not made in japan for sure as you can see from the s/n. Strange neckplate though.

+1 on what Mordor said. Trem is also not original I think. Neck looks like a DR3, body looks like a DXMG. It's a dinky of some sort for sure.

Made in India the trem is the jt-500.The rear cover plates are not recessed thats a dead give a way.Yes a dinky body not sure on model designation.Entry level guitar. The fret work on these is usually really bad.$ 100.00 is too high.I would rather have the black JS model behind it as long as its a jap one.

That is a 2000-01 DX10D, a made in India but not quite entry level Dinky.
          Finish is Amber Sunburst
Trem is stock (JT-500), pickups are not (EMG85)
Price is too high, IMO you should avoid this anyway as build quality & trem is crappy.

Very common mistake to label a Dinky as a Soloist; another case where the customer (kydron) is smarter than the shop.

Wow you guys rock. Thanks for confirming my initial thoughts on this, its too bad I really wish I could find a dealer up here (San Jose Bay Area CA)who actually has knowledge about Jacksons. Ive been on my own trying to learn about these great guitars.

                It's a Dinky because it's got a bolt-on neck. Soloists are neck-thru.

You'd be better off with that JS30 behind it. Those are some HIGHLY underrated guitars for the price.
