I'ld say go with the KBRR also better hardware & wood than the RR5 I think your getting more bang for your buck on the KBRR since they're both in the same price range new.
I've been eyeing 1 with the green trim for awhile now.

          thanks for input guys

in the end i went for a Dean Dime o Flame.. was £499 at local shop (£599 - RRP of £800 usually)

Apparantly its shop soiled.. it had 1 tiny tiny mark on the HS.. and a small mark on the edge of one of the wings.

Plays great, sounded good.. looked good.. lightweight...felt like it was built well (on par with the RR5 i had, except no dodgy gold control cover)

Getting a Burnt Chrome humbucker (Bareknuckle Warpig) for the bridge.. will look really cool with the flames on the guitar (the pickup cover gets burnt and it gos yellow\blue\red\orange.. really unusual!)

          Pics:

May also get a proper fret dress and setup, although it plays fantastic as it is!

I about thought paying £700 + case for the Kevin Bond and waiting for Thomann to get one and ship it..then i thought 'i've played the Dean and its a good price, and with the cash i saved on the price i can upgrade bits) and BAM pulled the trigger.

How do you figure? They're both Japanese models... one's got gold hardware with an alder body, maple neck, rosewood board, the other's got black hardware with mahogany body and neck with ebony board.

Sorry to warm up an old thread,
but did somebody have the chance to compare a KBRR and a COW side by side?
I'm still so amazed by my KBRR everytime I play it and if I could get a soloist-shaped 7string of the same quality...drool...gas...

Looks ok to me. If I were in the market for one, I'd hit it.

I love that this was between 3 quality import Jacksons and a Dime-o-flame was the winner. ugh.
