I wonder how much cash guitar makers save by NOT using real MOP?
Pobably next to nothing.

Yes, but the guitar makers would rather charge you a fortune for this small upgrade. That's how they justify jacking up the price on the high end models.
So I just got a 2005 NOS DK2 with blue orange flames today and I just looked at the MOTO inlays. They actually look pretty good to me. After looking at my KV2 and my KE2 side by side with the Dk2 (lotsa 2's) I can now tell the difference between the two. I bet before comparing them side by side I would not have been able to. They look cool to me and I have to say for 350.00 bucks the guitar is really f'n nice
To say it is a MOTO inlay has nothing to do with the material that is used in the inlay. It is a method to get paste, mother of pearl, diamond dust or whatever that will fill the route. http://www.inlay.com/inlay/pearl/pearl-1.html

Amen....that puts the toilet seat answer right down the toilet for me
Thanks Fett
