I wasn't aware of all the changes regarding the DXMG being basswood now. I have a DXMG that is about 3 years old and besides the pickups I love it, nothing wrong with the finish, at least not factory anyway. I'm in the process of replacing the pickups with real SD's. I have an LTD with a real Floyd and I've owned other guitars with the original Floyd, while they are maybe abit better it is not substantial, the JT580 is fine. Regarding the neck being thick, I have no ideal where that's coming from, the neck is very thin and very comfortable. My nephew has a DKMG and it is a very nice guitar, I prefer the DXMG to it but I'm not much on archtops either. They both have very good action and are great guitars for the $$.
