  • Jackson 1991 Phil Collen Archtop Professional

    Hi,
I'm having a shot at a metallic black 1991 Phil Collen archtop professional (Made in Japan) for sale locally...
How much should I pay for it?
I can't find any info on the net about these, the only ones I've found are custom shops which are insanely high priced, so I really don't know what I should pay...
It's in excellent condition with only a ding on the lower part of the top (the ding doesn't go through to the wood but it's there)...
The case is not original and not a Jackson either...
    Please help me out!
    Thanks!

        Hi,
        thanks for the reply...

I'm not sure I'll be able to get it at that price, the seller is asking $1500 CAD (around $1350 USD), which seems a lot considering what you said...

Do you know if there was a special hardshell case coming with these archtops?

Or was it the same Jackson molded SKB type case that was coming with the dinky and soloist from the same era?

        Let me know!

These are very rare and definitely USA quality, so $1000 is considered a bargain for one with minimal wear and tear. You are not likely to find a better-playing Professional model, and I've played or owned one of every model from that time.

As with most (all?) early-90's Professionals, it came with a G&G-style case that had practically no padding in it, which could lead to a broken headstock during shipping very easily unless the neck and head areas are heavily padded.
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood

              Don't touch it. It's mine. j/k.
I can't find the cash right now. I'd buy it @ 1350 because I really like these guitars. But I don't want to sell my Dkmg nor my SL-1 to purchase this one.

Where in Quebec are you from?

Ok now I see why the seller doesn't reply to me no more!
Seems like there's someone else interested other than me!
Anyway, at $1500 CAD I'm not sure I'm interested...
There is a white one in Quebec city somewhere that sold for around $1000 CAD brand new from a local store a few years ago, if only I knew who got it! I'd prefer that one...
BTW, I'm in Quebec city... where in Quebec are YOU?

I havent contacted the seller... with school coming and a car to pay I can't justify myself to buy it.

                    I'm in St-Jean-Chrysostome (Lévis) precisely

So you think $1350 for one with a ding on the fornt and without a Jackson hardshell case is a fair price?

It seems like people are not on the same frequency around here...
Some say $1000 at most and others say buy it no matter what...
                      Confusing!
I have the money, but I just don't want to get ripped off...
Anyway I guess I could sell it to Hambucker for what I paid if I don't like it in the end!

I'm smiling... Oh yeah I'm smiling!

                        What a kick ass guitar!
Are all Jacksons from that era as good as these Collen Archtops?
I was more of an Ibanez guy, but after playing this one, I guess I've overlooked Jackson for much too long!
One of the best playing guitars I've ever bought... and I've bought a lot!
I'll keep smiling for a while!
