  • JT580 vs JT500 Floyd Rose Licensed Jackson

Can someone comments on this: JT580 vs JT500 Floyd Rose Licensed Jackson?

Is one model better then the other?

I was looking at the specs of various cheap model of Jackson as I'm planning getting my son his first guitar.

So, I was going throught the specs at the end of the 2006 catalog and noticed that the DX10D has a JT580 and some X series models have the JT500. Is this a typo in the catalog (the web site also shares the same info)? I would have tought the JT500 would be used on entry models and the JT580 would be for the Pro and MG series.

Hope someone can clear this? Thanks in advance.

Typo. New X series have the 580, generally considered superior to the 500.

I thought it was the other way around - 500 on the Xs, 580 on the Pros.

Damn, I'm dumb... The typo I found was for the JS30 Dinky with a licensed Floyd, the specs for that model was JT580... So X and Pro would have the JT580 and the JS would have the JT500... If the JT500 is inferior... Sorry guys.

i thought the 500's were discontinued with the 580 as the direct replacement in 2004-ish.

There is only 1 upside of the JT-500 to the JT-580 IMO, and that is still questionable. The JT-500's baseplate and route is similar (anyone know if it is the same) to an OFR. No idea if you can just drop an OFR with new posts in a guitar with a JT-500. Are the post spacings the same? If so then this would be the ONLY upside.
