you can put them in the guitar man.. and if you do it right the 9V will fit fine.

85 in the bridge with either a 60 or 81 in the neck rules!

i prefer 81's in the bridge...but i still wish EMG would make a hybrid of the 81 and 85, like they did with the 707...doubletracking an 81 and 85 sounds so massive!

oh i was gonna say...learn how to wire your guitars yourself...or just learn to do 90% of the work yourself! its not hard, and you save loads of money. ive taken this approach to my guitars and my car...i do all the work i can on my own or have a buddy show me (hes worked on cars his whole life and for a living!) other than refrets i can pretty much do anything i need to a guitar, and wiring is one of the easier things i think. just a thought

Wow, that sounds idiotic. One of my buds just loaded an 81 into his RR3, nothing special had to be done to any part of his guitar.

Did he replace the output jack with one that's stereo and the 25k pots EMGs need?

I have an 81 in the bridge of my KE3 along with a Bill Lawrence 500xl in the neck with no tone. The battery JUST BARELY fits in the control cavity, but it does fit. I actually have a small piece of double sided tape on the back of the battery which keeps it from any possibility of sliding around under extreme thrashing out circumstances. Oh yeah, and by the way.....it sounds KILLER!
Transitioning from Retired Musician from cover bands to a Full time vocalist/frontman/guitarist in an original and covers band....it's been a while and this should get NASTY!

funny you should say that cuz my WRMG has been doing that from day one.

At least I know it can be done, that tech was an arrogant asshole as well as not knowing what the hell he was on about.

Anyone here do it, so I know what to look out for, any problems etc

I have a Model 2 that I changed to an EMG 81. There is no tone control at all, just a volume pot. It works fantastic and sounds awesome. If you know what you are doing (I'm refering to the tech, not you!), just about anything can be done with guitar electronics. It just proves that this "tech" is either lazy or just plain STUPID!!!!!

When you put in the volume pots, just make sure you follow the diagrams correctly, and make sure when you put in the battery, try to wedge it in the corner somehwere. I usually use a piece of the foam that comes with the pickup. I cut a piece to wrap around the battery. It helps protect the battery from accidently touching the vol. pots and prevents a possible short. Also it helps keep the battery from just banging around inside.

                      Hope this helps!

Then the battery will be draining pretty quickly without the stereo jack.

Yeah the third tab on the stereo jack turns on the battery when a cord is plugged into it. Otherwise the batter will always be one and drain in a matter of hours.
That tech sounds like a putz. He probably doesnt like dealing with emg wiring so he just makes stuff up. But yeah it can be done.
