  • LP vs non LP trem which do you prefer???

I personally like the non LP (or OFR)type, like on the 06 DXMG because the way I play (or palm mute to be specific) I like the flat saddles. Also the routing is ready for the OFR. The back sticking up does not bother me. However I know it bothers some people which is why the Low Profile was created in the first place. So I was interested in a poll of import owners, which do you prefer in terms of the design

    1. OFR type
    2. Low Profile type

I like the original style, gives me something to jam my palm onto. I had a Lo-Pro Edge'd JEM once, goddamn it was so Lo Pro I couldn't feel nuts of what I was palm muting...

Ofr - I like to be able to feel the bridge while I'm playing.
I feel festive all year round. Deal with it.

either's fine with me. I have a bunch of different bridges on different guitars - doesn't take long to adjust

Lo Pro. I like playing with my picking hand as close as possible to the body, probably due to using Concept hardtails long before getting my first Floyded guitar.

I'm not sure I understand. The Lo Pro Floyd doesn't put the bridge any closer to the body than an Original Floyd (at least I never noticed). If it's a recessed trem, it will be as close to the body as a hardtail. Non-recessed Floyds will have the trem higher off the body, similar to a TOM bridge. Both trems feel about the same to me, just the string locks are on top on the Lo Pro.

Yeah, Toey is correct. I think I should clarify why I prefer the OFR style:
I don't like the angled bridge saddles on a lo-pro. I think they make it more difficult to apply just a touch of palm muting - instead it feels more like "all or nothing". My opinion is that I can play with more nuances on a bridge with straight saddles.

I like 'em both...although it's a little easier to change strings on a Lo-Profile bridge.

i have an LP on my RR3, and the OFR style 580 on my Dinky...i like them both...they both stay in tune and work fine. however, the LP is a bit more comfy, but i dont mind playing either.
