  • Jackson DXMGT w/ EMG's...why so cheap?

Alright looks like Jackson just put out a new guitar not to long ago, or at least I haven't seen it on musicians friend for too long, but why and the hell is it so much cheaper than the DKMGT?

...Both are made from Alder and both have EMG(81/85)

    http://www.musiciansfriend.com/prod...WEMG?sku=512247 (DXMGT)

    http://www.musiciansfriend.com/prod...kups?sku=512241 (DKMGT)

Maybe its just be but I can't see where the DKMGT is worth that much more than the DXMGT, other than it has that carved archtop body.

    EDITED for "prices"

Sorry, I edited the prices off, but are the links alright or not?

I believe the links are OK. You may what to pick one of those up before other board members see that deal! You can't go wrong with a Jackson guitar with EMG active pickups.

Great guitars. Three of them reside at my house! I played a new DK2-T the other day and in comparison it did not play as nice and was priced around $200 more than the DXMGT's. Personally I like the SLS style headstock but a lot of people don't.

But the one he's showing has real emg's 81/85. Thats discontinued too? They also sell the exact same one with the HZ's too. The specs say it has a carved arched top but in the pics it clearly doesnt. Is it possible that the real emg's is a misprint too?

No active EMG's in DXMGT's. EMG HZ's are real EMG's. Made in USA. They are passive not active. They aren't that bad. I replaced them in my Ruby Red DXMGT with a set of Duncan Distortions but they are staying in my Red Flametop SLSMG.

I think they are using the specs for the 2006 DKMGT.

Not wanting to start a new thread and clog up the forum and since you have a SLSMG as well spence hows that play...Musicians friend had one in red, but now they took them off becuase I can't find them. Just wondering how much better quality those are, than say a DKMGT? I understand they're neck thru which really sounds nice, but there isn't any store too close to my area to try them out.

Just curious about the quality of fret work, and neck size. Right now I playing an Ibanez RG270, which has a crappy bridge on it, but it was a starter guitar for me, and now that I'm begining to have a better understanding of music in general as well as tonality of guitars I'm wanting to get something better, not sure if Jackson will be for me, but I've definately been looking into the SLSMG/DKMGT along side an LTD MH-1000, and Ibanez's new RGA121
