  • Do any higher quality Jacksons come with the "2-point fulcrum tremolo" ?

I can't stand floyd rose bridges or fixed bridges. I play the best on these cheaper bridges for some reason.. probablly beacuse I learned on an old epi flying V with one.

I picked up a jx10 on the weekend - I find the body and bridge incredibly comfortable but the sound leaves a fair bit to be desired and the SLS headstock is hard on the eyes.

Does anyone know of any higher quality Jacksons that come with the "2-point fulcrum tremolo" and not a floyd/kahler?

A lot of the new USA Charvels come with them, but that will run you a few bucks more.
I think there used to be a model with the Wilkinson trem but not anymore.

If you look for a used import, you might find something decent, especially in the late 80s/early 90s Charvel model series.

There was the JRS-1, which was a USA model

Pretty sure there was an import version of it as well.

Charvel Model 1 is great, but I think that has a 6-screw v-trem. The '86 Model 2 & Model 3 had a 2-point Kahler Fulcrum trem. Any of them would be a good choice, imo.

Thanks! I think I found a '86 charvel body on ebay but no full guitars. I'll have to keep my eyes open for one of these.

That had also crossed my mind... on the low end the JS1 and JS20 have the right bodies but I definately need a 24 fret neck with sharkies.

get a dk2 neck and remove the js neck? pocket might need modding. other than that, i guess you'll be wanting a custom guitar.

Too bad the necks aren't 100% interchangeable... I have a ke-3 I can take the neck off of.

Someone said stew-mac made conversion kits for strats to go from a floyd rose cavity to the "strat" style tremolo (el cheap-o 2 point fulcrum). I couldn't find anything on their site... seems to be a popular mod request in the strat world.

I think I'd rather have a luthier do something like that to a neck-thru soloist than try to build a frankenstein with ebay parts.

Boy that maple neck with out any inlays looks fantastic, to me at least,

but with the trem and the not straight line from the nut to the tuners = tuning problems?

If they're both 24-fret necks, they should be interchangeable.
