  • Looky what I won! PC3 joins the family.

I tried to post this on the ebay forum but it didn't take. This auction popped up last night and I couldn't pass it up.

Anybody with experience with a Natural PC 3 can answer a few questions for me.

Is there a gloss finish on the body?

How does it compare feel wise to a PC1?

It probably won't be the same but at a third of the cost I can certainly manage.

    Whaddayathink?

I had a Chlorine PC3 just like that (locking trem) and a PC1 neck. They were pretty much identical in feel, though the PC1 neck was oiled, and the PC3 neck is satin finished IIRC.

The figuring in the fretboards was very close, though.

        She's a beauty man
My guitar has almost the exact same body, it's scary how much the Jackson reminded me of my Charvel The only obvious difference apart from the Charvel logo is mine has two humbuckers and is missing a Floyd Rose, but I might get one installed.
        Rock on, and enjoy

You didn't "win" it, you "purchased" it. There's a huge difference..mmmkay?
"Winning" it means they gave it to you for free. If you paid money for it, you "purchased" it.
Just thought I'd clear up a huge problem I have with people thinking they "win" anything off ebay.
Sorry, just had to say that! Cool axe!

OK How about "I won the right to purchase the guitar?"

Seems like a happy medium to me.

Yeah probably. I have to agree with Mark on this one, as purchased. It was purchased on a BIN, so technically you bought it at price and not on a "Win". Anyway enjoy it.

The fretboard almost looks quilted rather than flamed. Should be quite cool!

Nice score - I want a Natural finish PC3 to go with my Solar one. Pickups aren't bad if a little thin, but I put a JB and 2 vintage rails in mine along with 250k pots and it really thickened up the tone. I've never played a PC1 so I can't comment on differences in feel/playability.

I am definitely considering upgrading the pickups. But I'll wait and see when it arrives. It might be just fine.

And I did notice how good the fretboard looks. Almost better than the quilt on the guitar!

I replaced the pickups in my PC3 with a Duncan Custom in the bridge, Lil Demon in the middle, and a Lil 59 in the neck. I couldn't be happier with the switch. It's one of my best sounding guitars.

Looks good Bryan. My PC3 also has killer quilt on the neck

Nice score at a decent price. I have the Au Nat, Solar and Chlorine (from Newc) and the Au nat is my favorite. It sounds the best due to the unfinished body. I've upgraded all mine with SD/Dimarzio p/u's and OFR's. The PC3 is my favorite import Jackson has ever offered.

Wow! That's a sweet fretboard. It looks as good (if not better than) my PC1. I hope mine comes out that good too.

So what pickup combo does anybody recommend for a PC3 if I decide to change them?

Well it arrive today! It's a sweet axe. I'm really surprised at how light it is! Barely weighs a thing.

The action is a little high for my tastes but that's a minor problem.

Sorry about no pics but my digital camera decided that last night was the time for the batteries to die. I'll take care of that shortly.
