Anyone tried out that 7-string jackson signature model? I read a couple of reviews on harmonycentral which claimed it's kinda crap?? Enlighten me, please
I've played one. I'm probably buying one as a backup 7 to my Soloist 7 - they're very solid guitars for what they are. A lot of Ibby guys hate 'em, but if you can handle having one pickup, they'll do just fine - much better than Jackson's last attempt at 7 strings...
Division - American Metal that doesn't suck. Much. Even on Facebook.
I agree that fans of Ibanez sevens tend to be more critical of the COW, because it's *not* a copy of their favorite brand, and is very different in terms of features. I haven't had the opportunity to try one, but if I tried an Ibanez and thought it was garbage...and that's not due to any bias, as I have none in the 7-string world. I'm sure every brand has its good and bad guitars, so maybe I tried a dud.
I actually had a Jackson DR7 for all of five days. I bought it at a GC clearance sale for $200, but finding no use for it in the band material, I returned it. If I ever decide to try a different musical direction, maybe I'll get my hands on a COW.
I've tried the 7-string version in a store and own the 6-string, both are equally awesome.
I read those HC reviews, and if I remember correctly the main complaints were the lightweight body (which is a PLUS in my book) and they both got guitars with some kind of defects which might have happen during shipping or something.
Just try before you buy, and this won't happen. Or if you order online, make sure you get a decent return policy.
