yeah, I almost let it die. I dont have a digicam so I had to get oldfashioned pics on a disk and my comp didnt have a cd drive, so once that comp crapped, out I got one with a cd and now I have faded into obscurity... sux to be me.. Gonna go play some blues on my Jackson dk2 of unknown age....
Dark Metallic Violet? Was that even a finish name?
Anyhoo, if you bought it as a new refurb in 2004, I'd say it's a 2004, but the availability of that finish should narrow it down. It also depends on WHEN in '04 you got it - January-March+ it could be an '03.
And like I said you can always take the neck off and see if there's a date stamped anywhere.
I want to depart this world the same way I arrived; screaming and covered in someone else's blood
The most human thing we can do is comfort the afflicted and afflict the comfortable.
This was my first Jackson as well, only just a regular DK2 and no modifications at all. Bought it in Jan 2005. The neck plate is blank and the headstock has a slight "USED" stamped onto the back. Other than that, it was a brand new guitar with plastic protectors still on the tuners and truss rod cover.
I heard these were close-outs, and in order to get a really cheap deal, no warranty work was allowed. To prevent warranties, the serial numbers were pulled and the neck stamped "USED" (in case a s/n neck plate was put on).
I like mine a lot. Everyone hates the DD HB102B but I think it sounds good. I've compared it to a TB4 and couldn't tell the different. I'd like to replace the singles with hot rails however.
