  • Need help Identifying Jackson dinky body

So I bought this dinky body off of ebay around 3 years ago or so to do a project, nothing ever came of it. The auction simply stated it was a dinky body and didn't list the actual model name, I was wondering if by listing its descriptions the best I can, if someone here could possibly point me in the right direction to see if its worth doing anything with.

    Black dinky body
    24 frets
25.5" scale.(compared it with my dxmg.)
    Recessed floyd trem route.
    H/S/S layout
    1 vol, 1 ton, 5 way blade

The thing that has me confused about this body is that the trem and control cavity plates aren't recessed into the body. I don't think they would have something like that on a DK2 body. Are non recessed plates common on lower end performer series guitars?

Any help would be greatly appreciated,

    Thanks!

If it's actually a Jackson body, it will have the model number stamped in the neck pocket.

Well there is definitely nothing stamped in the neck pocket. The auction I got it from had a lot of jackson performer series necks, bodies, hardware, it seemed it was all legit, just parted out. It must just be a knock off built to the specs of a dinky body as its the correct size and everything. Oh well, I didn't drop too much cash for it. Thanks for the help!

Sounds like a PS-2 Performer body. The cover plates were not recessed.

Well that would seem to make sense since the seller had other jackson performer series bodies and necks. Is it worth persuing a project over? (made out of particle board or alder?) But again, it has no stamping in the neck pocket what-so-ever. I don't know if they did that when the performer series was around though. I'm not really concerned with what year it was from or anything. Just the what its made out of basically. Thanks a ton for the help dudes, this place always comes through!

A PS-2 body is decent enough for a project guitar.
                    Have fun with it.

Thanks again for the help, I will definitely be pursuing this project instead of buying new. But soon comes the rediculously hard task of finding a neck I want, I swear whenever the good ones go up on the bay, they are swarmed. It should be worth it though!

I had a PS-2 neck up on ebay last week.
You have to look out for them, but you can find decent deals on a Jackson replacement neck.
Mine went stupid cheap compared to what I've seen some go for.
