  • Fretboard ding on new K. Bond rhoads

Well i just got my new Kevin Bond delivered today after a month on backorder and i love it except i noticed there's a small gouge or divot on the fretboard. It's definitely not an imperfection in the grain it looks like something took a small scoop out of the ebony. Other than that it's in perfect shape but i'm kinda pissed off. Are these things just to be expected on a sub 1k japanese guitar? I know it's not a usa rr1 but take a look at the pic and tell me what you think. Am i overreacting or should I contact onlinestagegear.com (the place where i ordered it) and see what they say?

If it bothers you, contact Matt. If it doesnt' don't. Not being a smart ass..please don't take it that way..just stating the obivious. I really don't think it would be an issue for ME...but I am not you.

Maybe put a little ebony dust in there with a dab of crazy glue?

That would bug me. I returned a KVX10 that had way less of an imperfection than that. And that one shipped directly from Scottsdale.

That would bug me. It looks deep, and it's in a very obvious place.

yeah it is deep and being on the second fret it's noticable. If it was just a surface scuff i wouldn't mind so much but it because it's so deep it really sticks out like a sore thumb in any type of lighting. i'll send an email to Matt with a zoomed pic and see what he says

Not! (It was a fretboard imperfection)

And, you're losing this election, Scotty m'boy!

I often see small imperfections like that on the fretboards of brand new guitars, and I wouldn’t reject an otherwise good guitar just because of such a tiny pinhead dent, however, it’s easy for me to say that when I’m not paying for it.

Maybe it would be fair if the seller reduced the price? And maybe the seller would reckon he’d lose more in the long run if you insisted on either a replacement or a refund?

Is it an imperfection, or did someone drop something on it? what happens when you play at that fret?

That's no imperfection, that is a gouge. It shouldn't affect playing, it just looks bad.
