I moved it to that neck plate screw, and wow, it really fixed it, thanks!

Mine balances perfectly since I put the reverse head neck and the original Floyd which seems much heavier and the 9 volt battery for the EMG81.

The two main mods i did to my Kellys were to put the strap button on the edge of the neck pocket between the front bolts, and move the rear strap button closer to the top of the tail.

With this type of body shape (Explorer-style), if you put the front button on the edge of the body (like Explorers usually come), the guitar will try to lay flat or nosedive, not only from the weight of the neck vs the balance point of the button, but also because they strap is trying to stay straight, and the front button is on an angle.

By putting the front button on the edge of the neck pocket, between the two front neck bolts, the center of balance is shifted closer to the bridge, where it belongs, so the body tilts back and the neck is held in the Classical position.

However, I did not like the bridge placement on this body style - my picking hand was too far forward, almost crossing my navel, which is an unnatural playing position for me.

I removed the rear button and held it along the edge of the body near the top of the tail, and slid it down the edge until the tip of the screw would not penetrate the front/inside top edge, then mounted it there. This made the guitar sit further back in a more natural position (Les Paul/Strat) for me.

I had the same problem with my KE2 and solved it with a suede strap. The sucker doesn't move at all now.

If you mount the front button there on the neck pocket you serious ly weaken the strength of the wood and also you don't have enough room between the button and the back of the neck to get the strap in. Stupid place to put it imo!

Yeah, I got the same prob with my KE2...it gets annoying, especially when you want to tap. It puts force on your left hand, which affects your movement pretty badly...imo.
I DO (REALLY DO) NOT!!...want to drill into my guitar. I hate gaping holes left in any guitar.
I think I'll just get a heavy leather strap of some kind.

For those that don't want to drill holes, a suede strap like jimmy suggested or a leather strap with an unfinished side work great. I've found that just about every guitar I've owned where the strap button was on the back close to the neck(SG's, Explorers, ML's), the headstocks all want to fall to the floor just as soon as you let go of the neck.

Just a wide leather strap never worked for me. It just tugs on the shirt, and the guitar will still swivel around the front strap pin.

That's why ya gotta go shirtless! Just kidding. I just use the cheapo Ernie Ball 5 dollar special nylon straps and just deal with the nose dives. I mostly use my Strat style guitars when doing tapping solo stuff. With the strap button on the upper horn, they've never dived yet.
Whenever I read stories of neck heavy guitars, I think of that Def Leppard video Rock of Ages when Phil Collen is clapping and his Destroyer headstock makes a beeline for the stage floor.
