  • Buying DXMG trem seperately

I guess jcmktgguy has moved on, so I will ask this here first, to see if anyone has any ideas

I am thinking of getting a DK2M but don't like the lp trem angled saddles,
According to jcmktgguy in this post:

The trem on the 06 DXMG is the new harder metal and from trying it out works fine, how could I buy one to replace the JT580 LP?

And what is the trem model on the DXMG?, the Jackson website says JT580 LP which is not correct for 06

    Thanks

Sorry, I should have added I'm first going to try to save the $$$$ but if its going to cost close to an OFR I'll probly get an OFR.

AFAIK there is no way to buy parts from Jackson. I'd buy a bunch if there were.

I thought it was later "discovered" that the DXMG trem is not among those that are new-and-improved in 2006, as it is a JT500 rather than JT580LP. If I undestand right, the new trems are made by Gotoh, and I'm fairly sure that Gotoh offers a non-low-profile Floyd copy. Not sure if anyone has tried such a swap yet.

Sure it's a $300 trem, but the shipping is free. LMAO

Might not mean much, but Jackson's site lists it as

for all the floyded imports as a matter of fact. Except the KVX10 (Jackson® Licensed Floyd Rose® Low Profile Tremolo) & SL3 (Floyd Rose® FRT-O2000 Tremolo). Hmm.

                What's an "FRT-O2000"?

I'd go with Gotoh or Ping if you're looking for a copy.

Are you sure? jcmtktguy answered pretty clearly that they were the same hardend metal.

                      That's the actual model number.

And stay away from the JT-500... crappy trem.

                        I'd avoid the cheap Ping.

What about the Takeuchi trems, didn't I hear that was who made the ones Jackson uses?

Yes, I've done some google research and it seems that the Takeuchi TRS-101 may be the same as the jackson non lp trems, can anyone confirm this?

Also, the metal is supposed to be high quality, is this true?

I had a mid '90s Dinky Reverse with Jackson JT-580LP that had Takeuchi branded on it (I don't remember if it was on the block or the bottom of the baseplate). Not sure if they're still making them for Jackson or not.
