Sounds like an X series as it has Duncan Designed pups on it.

Yeah, sounds like a 2000 era KX10D. Serial indicates made in India.

Are the 12th fret dots wide like a Gibson Explorer or narrow like a Fender Strat?

Wide would be early India (as would the 8-digit serial) but narrow would be Japan (which may indicate a swapped neck), or a recent India neck.

It also helps to know if the headstock says anything on it besides Jackson.

            Kelly

Axe does not have anything else on the headstock. I also saw that the KE3 had the Duncan Designed so that was my guess when i bought her. As for the dots there are none she has sharkies!

If nothing on the head besides "Jackson" and non-reverse sharkies (?), my guess is a Pro Series KE3 2002-2003.

Does the neck plate say Jackson on it or is it just the serial#?

                  Plate

Just a serial number. However the neck plate does not match any of the hardware. Everything on this axe is chrome the plate is black.

Sounds like you have a parts mutt.
Pull the neck off and see what is stamped on the neck heel and the neck pocket.

Unscrew and remove the four neck screws first

Ok what am i looking for

I can find nothing distinguishable on the neck or in the pocket. Some red looks like it may have been oil marker or something to that effect that kind of looks like a cursive R or S. The neck has Jackson and the reserved logo (r with circle) I was mistaken the plate on the neck is chrome but says only the serial number. The neck looks to be birdseye as its very very grainy in that style.

Upon removing the cavity covers and pickups I would be hard pressed to believe that the Duncan Designed did not come with this axe, they are wired exactly like my old kelly was. Its kind of an anamoly.

It only cost me 119$ at a pawn shop and has mint points no chips. The body is in cery good shape so either way I cant complain, i figure i could get that out of the neck..

I ask again (): does it have reverse sharkfins? Non-reverse head stock?

It confirms my guess: Pro Series KE3 2002-2003. Maybe the neck is from such a guitar? I've only skimmed the catalogues mind you, so maybe I'm wrong.

                              No pics, Chris?
