  • Ibanez Edge on Soloist SL3

    Hey There
I'm sorry I'm openning so many threads in all the Forums
but I'm about to buy a guitar , so i want to know all about it ...
does the Ibanez Edge out of tune when you use the tremolo ?
and what's the difference between Ibanez Edge and Ibanez Edge Pro (on the Ibanez JEM) ?

    Thanks

By the title of your thread im assimign you want to put an edge trem on a SL3. Well it wont fit. the edge and pro are wider and have awider post spacing than a Floyd Rose does. You would have to dowel and redrill for the trem not to mention enlarge the counter sunk area the floyd hovers in. It'll probably cost more to do this to a SL3 than it would to buy an Ibanez with one already on it used. Just stick with the floyd and avoid all the hassle.

An Edge trem will often fit right on to Floyd posts, but will not always be the right shape to fit into the recess of a non-flatmount guitar. Also, bear in mind that, while the Edge is a damn good trem, it's not made of particularly sturdy metals...

Well, in my experience, the plating rots and flakes off, and the arms have a tendency to snap at the "elbow".

the original edge and edge pro - or was it lo-pro. i keep forgetting (not the new 2 or 3 trems, those are complete rubbish) are very good trems, with no issues that i know of

will fit the OFR trem posts. they will NOT fit an OFR rout though as it is larger (bulkier). i am not sure about the saddle forward spacing and how it would affect the intonation though.

it's not the new Ibanez Edge
                that's for sure.
the guy said it's from early 90'

                (OFR = Original Floyd Rose?)

That is you swearing at me NEWBIE... :P not nice. Im trying to help and youswear at me. Nice way to win friends and influence people. Why is it a Floyd wont fit the Lopro but a lopro will fit the floyd posts?.. Ive tried this both ways and niether fit. Did they change the post spacing and nobody told me? Ibanez has from my experiance been wider than the OFR.

if you are saying that it can't fit
so it's not the real Edge Pro?

Mayb the seller is Lier or he just don't know?

The Edge Pro is the newest ibanez trem, that's on the new higher end ibanez guitars. It's just a redesigned Lo-Pro pretty much, but even more low profile. It sits perfectly flat with the body.

Well I'm not sure what trem an sl3 has, but comparing my kelly std with the 580LP and my ibanez with the original edge, both have about 74mm post spacing and a recess about 96mm wide.

That trem likely fitted fine as its an older SL3 with the jt trem not the newer one with an ofr so the EDGE dropped right in perhaps.

That definately isnt an ofr route as the baseplate has the angled route from the looks of things, that is an ibanez EDGE, they are too distinctive to be soemthing else...

It looks cool The edge trems are relaly good but any floating trem has its limitations...
